Tape media of Sony DDS4 is made up of ultra fine magnetic particles. It is much difficult to disperse small sized magnetic particles in the binder. Sony has devised a new high dispersion technique that ensures even dispersion of the ultra fine particles. Size of magnetic particles used in Sony DDS-4 and DDS3 tape cartages are approx. 100nm (0.1µm). Smooth base film, increased track density, and small sized particles, all these features lead to long term durability and outstanding performance.
