One of the great advantages of satellite radio is the fact that the programs are not interrupted by commercials. This is because the providers income comes from listeners and not from advertisers. Satellite radio services offer around 70 programs of commercial fee music channels each and you have a great variety of choices, from mainstream rock, hip-hop and dance music to folk music, opera, blues and many more.

Another great thing is the absence of static. You can be driving from the West Coast to the East Coast in the United States of America and you will not get any static at all on the way. The radio signal is digital, which means that you will get crystal-clear sound wherever you go.

Satellite radio tuners receive, along with the actual radio programs, an influx of metadata that consists of information regarding song title, artist, radio program and radio channel. This means that your satellite radio receiver will display all the necessary information about what you are listening to. For instance, if you hear a great song and you want to know which artist sings it, you just look at the receivers display.

All radio programs are uncensored. This is one of the reasons why artists like Howard Stern chose to move their shows on satellite radio. You can also listen to your favorite hip-hop songs without the interruption of those annoying beeping sounds.

Satellite radio programs also offer information about local traffic and weather conditions. The information is very detailed especially for those who live in big cities. If there is a major national calamity and other terrestrial radio stations will not work, you can always count on getting accurate information from satellite radio program. You can also listen to it online on your computer.

If you still are not convinced on why you should pay money for something that you can get for free, think about how much time you have wasted listening to commercials and all kinds of other boring stuff on terrestrial radio programs.

Traditional radio is not free, despite the popular belief. It is time-consuming and irritating because you have to listen to five minutes or more of commercials so that you can finally hear a song you like. The satellite radio subscriptions are very affordable and, for around 13 dollars per month, you get exactly the programs you want, which you can listen to wherever you are, at the best sound quality.

Satellite radio is great for you especially if you travel a lot. If you are traveling across the United States of America, for example, you can listen to the channel or channels you want during your whole trip, without losing signal or getting static. If you have a traditional radio, you will have to keep changing channels every hundred miles, but if you are using satellite radio you do not have to do that because the geographically availability of programs is not a problem. Satellite radio subscribers will soon get the chance to watch video programs as well.

Both Sirius and XM services have announced their intention of introducing in the near future a variety of video satellite channels that will have some of the great advantages that are currently available to satellite radio: commercial free programs, great quality of sound and vast geographical availability.

If you have never heard of XM radio then you soon will. XM radio is becoming one of the world’s leading types of Satellite Radio. The installation of XM radio is considered one of the easiest out of all Satellite Radio units. Although there is a subscription service you must pay, it is considerably cheap and fair. There are literally thousands of people that rave about all the features of XM. Most people listen to it because of the abundance of stations that provide music, talk shows, comedians, and even cooking shows. There are even features available now for you to get XM radio through your Internet at home. With all the features listed and described, this would make for the perfect home radio console.

If you go to purchase XM online most consumers pay around $96 a year. If you subscribe somewhere else (like your vehicle) then it runs about $48 a year. Some people find it better for their budgets by subscribing month by month. The premiums are a little lower making it possible for you to not pay one large sum. Some consumers are able to get a cheaper Internet service when they purchase an XM package for their vehicle. With all these options available, the best one has not even been mentioned. When you listen to XM radio, you get to listen to any type of music or show without commercials. How can you go wrong by not having to sit through all those boring commercials that interrupt your music flow? The truth is that most people actually enjoy commercial free radio.

It does not matter if you have a PC or a MAC. XM radio online is compatible with both. Almost all major browsers are able to support XM. This would be ideal for you to be able to pick different shows or genres without any problems. It is not even uncommon for people to buy a computer that comes with some type of free or cheaper subscription to XM online. Laptops are even being made to be compatible with XM. This would allow you to enjoy all the features when you are traveling about.

The features of XM radio almost makes purchasing it a no-brainer. Imagine getting to listen to your favorite type of music without having any interruptions from advertisers or commercials. This alone makes XM radio the ideal listening console for most work environments. Imagine the comfort you would get at work from being able to listen to your favorite music or program and not get interrupted. It would probably make your work environment a little more enjoyable and a lot less stressful.

XM radio usually comes with an installation manual and in most cases a channel guide. You will not have to sit there scanning the channels, finding one you like, and then have to remember it. Instead you could just flip through the channel guide to your genre, go directly to the channel and decide if you like it or not. Now, you can save the channel within your XM console and just switch over to all your favorites with a push of a button.

If you’re browsing the internet in search of a satellite radio service for the US and Canada, then you need only check two websites: Sirius and XMRadio. These two giants are your only options and yet you’ll notice striking similarities between the two websites’ design, the product pricing and the programmer’s stations.

Rumors have been flying around that Sirius and XM will form a ground-breaking merger this year, uniting all 14+ million customers under one banner. However, as of right now, you’ll need to know what makes each slightly unique.

Country Music Fans may favor the XM Radio satellite service, which provides listeners with two extra stations – one focusing on Americana Country like Robert Plant or Blackfoot, and the other focusing on Folk Country like Tim Garrison and The Nitty Gritty Band. Both stations have country music from the 80s and 90s, new country, bluegrass and classic country.

Christian Music Fans may favor XM one. This service includes one more Christian music channel than Sirius – in addition to Christian Pop / Rock and Gospel, XM also hosts a Southern Gospel channel with Gold City, Greater Vision and The McKarneys.

Electronic Music Fans will prefer the Sirius service if they’d like a Breakbeat/Old SKool station, in addition to the usual Trance/Progressive stations that both satellite radio services provide. XM has exclusive rights to acclaimed BPM, but Sirius has a special Dance Hits station.

Rock Music Fans will probably prefer Sirius. While XM provides four different “alternative radio” stations, a punk station, a heavy metal station, a jam bands station, a college indie station and three classic rock stations, Sirius gives subscribers roughly 23 stations with everything that XM’s service has — plus New Wave, Glam Metal, Jimmy Buffet, Grateful Dead, Elvis, Canadian rock, UK rock, Garage, 60s Rock, 70s Rock and an additional punk/ska station.

World Music Fans will find that both service providers offering two French stations, but Spanish-speaking subscribers will find XM the better option, since they offer Rock En Espanol, Regional Mexican, Latin Pop, Latin Jazz, Hispanic Rhythmic and Spanish AC. Sirius, on the other hand, has only one Spanish music station for Latin Pop. Additionally, XM has a station for African and a business station in Italian.

Rap and Hip Hop Fans may prefer XM because their service focuses on more Soul and Funk, along with uncensored Hip Hop and Urban Contemporary — unless they’re big Slim Shady fans, in which case they may need Sirius Radio’s Eminem station.

In some ways, XM Radio caters to the aging population with Good Morning America, Casey Casem’s Top 40 Countdown, Theme Time with Bob Dylan and Wolfman Jack. On the other hand, Sirius Radio goes after the 20-somethings crowd with Bam Marguera, Howard Stern, Jamie Foxx and Tony Hawk shows. However, both satellite radio service providers are likely to give you something you can enjoy.

Sports Fans will find many similarities in XM and Sirius service options. For instance, both providers have ESPN, Nascar and NHL exclusives, as well as both college and NFL football. XM gives better golf / PGA Tour coverage and Fox Sports, while Sirius gives better NBA coverage. On XM, catch shows with Jimmy Johnson, Dale Jr, Coach K, James Carville, Luke Russert and Cal Ripkin.

With the Delphi SkiFi2 radio, you can get a sports ticker to show game scores on your display screen and the SportsCaster comes with 30 sports presets programmed in. However, Sirius gives you game alerts, 30 presets and lists all your favorite teams in one category with the Sportster and Streamer satellite radios. Additionally, get exclusive programming with Jerry Rice, Daryl Johnston, Randy Cross, Adam Schein, Shannon Sharpe, Ray Evernham, Tony Stewart, Rick Ackerman and Frank Isola.

Whichever satellite radio service you prefer, you’ll be surprised to find that both are competitively priced at $13/month and most of the radio components cost from $20 – $200. However, which ever service you choose for now, you will still need to purchase a satellite radio receiver and luckily, most of the satellite radios will work in your home and in your car.

You’ve caved. Initially the idea of paying $13/month for radio seemed silly, since you already had a perfectly fine set up, but over time the idea of having 130 channels of commercial-free listening charmed you. Since you’ll need a few items to get started, you may be wondering what kind of Sirius Satellite radios to look for at your local electronics shop.

Sirius satellite radios were originally designed for use in your vehicle. These are subscribers who are frequently stuck in bumper to bumper traffic at 5pm every day. Some of them drive large semis or delivery trucks for their jobs. Others need a 24/7 dosage of Bruce Springsteen or Howard Stern’s humorous programming to help them make it through their road trip, however long it may be.

The XACT Visor Sirius satellite radios, costing just $49.99, mount onto your visor or dashboard for easy access. The one-line sixteen character display is easily discernable in a quick glance while driving. There are 36 channel presets for fast searching, a remote control and a lighter adapter.

The Sirius One Radio is usually offered at $49.99 as well, but sometimes you can catch an online sale through their website for as low as $20! Many people like the high-contrast display with vivid turquoise writing, the built-in wireless FM transmitter and the four different mounting options with no professional installation required.

The In-V Sirius satellite radios are just $34, and need to be installed professionally. There are 10 radio presets and three-line display on the vivid orange face — and an optional remote available.

For buses and public transport vehicles, you can get a hidden one that will provide you with all the stations and none of the vulnerability that can come with the detachable units. The “SiriusConnect” units are available from $79 to $299.

Then there are a myriad of units that can be easily unplugged for both car and home usage. The Starmate 3 moves between home, car and boombox docks with ease. Priced at just $69.99, these versatile ones offer five-line display on orange faces, game alerts for sports fans, artist or song seek options, 30 channel presets and a slim vehicle docking cradle.

Similarly, the Stratus dock-and-play one can move from car to home use without complex installation. It lacks some of the fancier features of the Starmate 3 and offers just 10 presets instead of 30 for around $40.

The Streamer Replay and Streamer GTR Sirius satellite radios come in brilliant blue display faces, with 30 channel presets, Game Alert, Game Zone favorite teams list, rewind and replay capability for up to 44 minutes of programming and six line display. Generally, these sell for around $120 full price, but the Sirius website frequently runs promotions where you can get the Streamer Replay kit for as little as $20!

Good news, sports fans! The new Sirius Sportster 4 is out for $119, which is designed with a “Sirius playback” function to pause, rewind and listen to the last play or 44 minutes of the game. “MyGameZone” lists all your favorite teams in one category. You can set alerts so you never miss your favorite games or shows. You also can remove and use this dock at home.

Before purchasing your Sirius satellite radios, consider where you will use them – just for your late afternoon commute or at home while cleaning the house and eating dinner too? Will you need 10 presets or 30? Will you use your Sirius radio pause-and-rewind functions, or do you want just an attractive yet bare bones unit? These are all things to consider before you buy. Next, check out your local sale papers and the Sirius com website for deals. Welcome to the future of radio!

Sirius satellite radio has long been the underdog. Perhaps their name is a fitting match since the name Sirius comes from the “Dog star”. The Sirius star is the brightest star in the sky, and Sirius aptly seeks the same place in the Radio industry. Yet, with XM Radio having millions more customers how will they do it?

Yet now, Sirius Radio has gotten serious. They hired on a professional research team, to literally follow people around all day, and watch them for an opportunity to better implement Sirius into their lives. Somehow I think it is odd that they need to study humans, but maybe corporations are that out of touch. At any rate, the move proved extremely successful. Producing a product that seems like it must have followed you and watched you too. The Sirius S50 is the product Sirius has unleashed. This new player is the creative response to the MyFi, and has tech critics everywhere in awe. It’s essentially a handheld music player that, get this, will automatically load your favorite programming into memory whenever you load it into the docking station.

Simply amazing! Since it’s launch prior to the holiday season, Sirius says they have stolen the momentum from XM and are actually gaining more customers than the larger XM Radio. Unless XM comes up with a counter product and fast, they could be facing a bleak future against Sirius who has gained momentum from the product, critical praise of their music selections, and with big enough step in the right direction they could deal the deathblow to XM.

The S50 I assume stands for Sirius-50 with the 50 representing the claimed 50 hours of music, which depends on the compression rate of the files stored. Even at 40 hours, that means 40 hours of quality programming from your favorite stations. That is, until RIAA stepped in out of concern for “music piracy” and made only one downloadable musical song per recording. Talk radio is not affected quite the same way. However, you can download your own MP3′s onto the device, to fill the remaining time difference.

Even with the RIAA stepping in to try and stop it, the S50 is a pinnacle achievement, and will challenge XM to the core. XM will be hard pressed to develop a similar product, and are in danger of losing their advantage with one big push.

That’s where Sirius’ new bold marketing campaign steps in: “We know what you’re thinking”. A pretty bold and over-the-top statement, but it may be just what the doctor ordered. If they get enough customers curious to try look at the product, it will most likely ensnare them with it’s simplistic beauty. Being able to download unknown music to your device that you will probably like is amazing just to think about. Say you like 80′s rock, and come home from a day of work, plug in your Mp3 player, and it knows the two 80′s stations you like, loads the music they were playing on it, and you’re off to hours of enjoyable music.

With products like these, Sirius has the upper hand. With famous radio personalities like Howard Stern and Martha Stewart, a music selection most critics prefer over XM, and now the Sirius S50 wearable satellite player, it looks like XM will have to run for its money.

Sirius Satellite Radio is a technical marvel; using a series of three satellites that use a highly inclined elliptical orbit, Sirius Satellite Radio broadcasts from the satellite directly to the receiver on the ground. The signals are completely digital, giving CD audio (or often times better) grade sound quality.

To get Sirius Satellite Radio, you need to have a compatible receiver, and an antenna pointed straight up at the sky; the three satellite constellation means you don’t need to have the antenna pointed straight to the southern horizon (though it does mean that, as the satellites shift position during the day, people who use a fixed installation may need to nudge the antenna direction a bit; some rigs have automatic antenna rotators to track the satellites even.) You also need to pay a subscription fee – though a $500 fee will give you lifetime access. You also need to pay a small fee to activate the radio.

In addition to audiophile grade sound, Sirius Satellite Radio offers exclusive content offered nowhere else. It is the only satellite radio network that offers every NFL game, for example, or Yankees Entertainment System. All Sirius Satellite Radio broadcasts have content encoding broadcast with it; this means you can look at the digital display on your radio and see the name of the song being broadcast, which makes it easier to look it up to buy a copy of it later.

Sirius Satellite Radio divides its content into subchannels called streams – there are currently over 160 of them, and more on the way; this makes it possible to find exactly what you’re looking for – be it Martha Stewart or Howard Stern, or as previously mentioned, the best sports radio on radio.

One of Sirius Satellite Radio’s innovations in providing broadcasting excellence is its hiring of people (like Steve Van Zandt) to executive produce audio shows; these can range from streams that offer only a single artist’s catalog (through albums, interviews, recorded concert footage) to interesting vertical slices of the broadcast music field, like twenty different stations providing different mixes of CD audio-grade rock and roll.

Sirius Satellite Radio also has co-op deals to broadcast talk radio simultaneously nation wide, and to bring some regional radio stations to a nationwide audience, and the packages keep growing, while the subscription fee remains the same. If you want to hear the best radio on radio, Sirius Satellite Radio is the best way to go.

Most new cars sold today have as standard equipment or as a minor cost upgrade the ability to have Sirius satellite radio. A car is a great place for this especially if you are driving across town or even across the country. You can tune in to your favorite Sirius radio station and listen to it throughout your journey, instead of trying to re-adjust your radio to pick up a new station as you start to leave the broadcast area of your traditional radio stations.

If you have not experienced Sirius satellite radio yet, you are missing out on something great, especially if you spend significant amount of time in your car. You deserve the opportunity to give this a try today and make your driving more enjoyable, and then when you get home, you can continue listening to your favorite Sirius radio station at home too from your home unit.

Digital audio receivers are a fabulous piece of equipments for any audio enthusiast, fan of music or gadget fanatic. Move that music sitting on your computer into the rest of your home.

You don’t want to be tied down to your pc just so you can listen to your favourite music. Also, those PC speakers don’t really do it justice if you have a hi-fi setup in your home. A digital audio receiver is an ideal solution for getting that music collection off your PC into the household via a quality piece of audio equipment.

Whether the music is downloaded, ripped from CDs or even created by you, if you’re one of the growing number of bedroom musicians that have sprung up since PCs became powerful enough and cheap enough for us all to make music with them, a digital audio receiver brings it to the living room. Now there really is no need for that CD collection that sits gathering dust in the age of music over the Internet.

The digital audio receiver does its magic by being connected to your home network. Different models offer different methods of connection, but they’re all essentially the same. Some connect to your wi-fi hub, others are physically connected with network cable, some are even connected to the phone socket, for those of you with a home PNA network (Home Phoneline Networking Alliance).

A numebr of digital audio receivers come packaged with software that you need to setup on your home computer. This software basically allows you to choose music from your collection as it knows where each file is located on your machine.

When a track is selected, the server software loads the audio and then “streams” it to the digital audio receiver. Streaming is just a technical term for passing the data to the digital audio receiver fast enough to allowing the digital audio receiver to begin playing instantly, without running out of music. This means that although the audio has to be moved across the network, it is surprisingly fast. No need to wait for the entire song to be downloaded before playing.

If you’ve ever got tired of constantly changing over CD’s on your normal audio setup, then this solution is perfect as everything is contained in one place. There are other benefits too, such as being able to see at a glance which music track is playing as well as who it is by.

A huge benefit of using a digital audio receiver is the ability to save your entire collection at any one time. You can literally get thousands of tracks onto a single DVD disc and a hard drive will allow you to store even more.

If you haven’t noticed yet, Sirius Satellite Radio added another channel to its programming. Sirius Sports Central is now on Channel 123 and it’s awesome. For all you fans of the Tony Bruno Show, he’s got his own show now on Sirius. This channel was created for those of us who enjoy all types of sports, not just football.

Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy football season as much as the next guy. Sports Central definitely has its fair share of football news, but occasionally I enjoy switching gears and talking about a different sport, like what’s going on in boxing, what to expect from LeBron James this year, or how many PGA tour victories Tiger now has under his belt. Sirius Radio says this channel will cover “a variety of professional and college sports” and I think that description is right on target.

So back to the Tony Bruno Show – if you are not already familiar with the award-winning Bruno, you should be. His show airs weekdays from 9:00 am-1:00 pm ET. Bruno is one of the best sports talk show hosts alive and has the experience and recognition to back it up. He’s been in the biz for 35+ years and has covered everything from the Super Bowl to the Olympics to the Kentucky Derby. You name it, he’s been there. In addition to Bruno, Sirius Sports Central will broadcast The Arnie Spanier Show, Todd Wright Tonight, and the David Stein Show.

My favorite part about the new Sports channel are the new programs Sirius created in addition to the exclusive programming that already exists. So if you like listening to the college sports show, “Rivals Radio,” then you’ll enjoy “The Sirius College Football Coaches Show.” And if you like the sports business talk show with marketing and collectibles experts Brandon Steiner and Andrew Bogusch then you might also enjoy the “ABC’s of Sports,” a caller oriented show about making sports more enjoyable for competitors and spectators.

One of the coolest programs is Sirius Fight Club hosted by Randy Gordon. Gordon is the former Chairman of the New York State Athletic Commission and former Editor-in-Chief of The Ring magazine. So all you fight fans will be happy to know that Gordon is covering everything that is going on in boxing and mixed martial arts. Sirius Fight Club isn’t a secret though, so tell all your buddies it’s okay to talk about it.

SiriusSatellite Radio offers a ton of sports programming including NFL Radio on channel 124, NASCAR Radio on channel 128, and NBA Radio on channel 127 in addition to this new channel. If you’re any kind of sports fan then you’re going to really enjoy Sirius Sports Central Station on Channel 123.

The latest technological advancement to come to radio programming is satellite radio programming from Sirius. Its a whole new way to broadcast and listen to radio and it changes so many things that we have grown accustomed to having with radio programming. The first thing that radio listeners of the past have to go with out with Sirius satellite radio is commercial advertisements, that now come in rapid fire succession on standard radio programming.

This is because Sirius satellite radio is a paid for, subscription radio service, so they dont use radio commercials to generate revenue. You dont have to wonder what it costs to subscribe to Sirius satellite radio, because you get it for free now with your DirecTV or Dish Network TV programming package.

Another great thing about Sirius satellite radio is that it has a separate channel for just about any genre of music you can think of and that includes anything from old gospel to blue grass to heavy metal to old classic country swing and everything in between. Its broadcast from a satellite, so it is out of the jurisdiction of FCC sensors, so there is some very provocative talk programming to be heard on Sirius satellite radio.

The Howard Stern Show can now only be heard on Sirius satellite radio and he is reported to be just as funny and provocative as he has always been. Getting your radio programming from DirecTV or Dish Network is a great way to go, because you only have one service to subscribe to this way and also Dish Network gives you free Sirius satellite radio for your car, truck or RV.

If you are interested in getting it for your RV, then you might be surprised to learn that Dish Network now has a new satellite TV system that is just for RVs and it is called Mobile Dish. Mobile Dish is able to do what no other satellite TV service has been able to do before and that is to deliver satellite TV programming to an RV while it is traveling down the open highway.

It currently has one-hundred channels and Dish Network has plans to add even more channels in the near future. With Sirius satellite radio and Mobile Dish in your RV you are no loner in an entertainment deficit while you are on the road. This also give you access to the weather and news programming on Sirius satellite radio as well as the weather and news programming on Mobile Dish at all times while you are on the road.

Mobile Dish also does away with the cumbersome satellite dish that had to mounted on the roof of an RV and replaces it with a permanently mounted, low profile, state of the art high tech antennae. This new antennae never has to be touched again after it has been installed and it also does way with the constant risk of snags from tree branches. To find out more about Dish Network and the services that they have to offer you can contact them online.

Gone are the days when using two way radios were meant exclusively for the police and military personnel. Breaking the shackle from being the special privilege of the police and the defence forces, they are now within the reach of common man. Be it a family shopping in a mall together or two friends enjoying exciting a road trip separately, these radios provide them with wireless connectivity and help them trace out each other.

Two way radios are simple ways of staying connected wirelessly. Though they cover only a limited area, the cost-effective quality of the radios keeps them far above the other means of communication. The best thing about the radios is that there is no per minute call charge. This means that you will not need to pay any network provider for the time you talk on the radio. Once you a buy a set, it will keep on giving you service.

Another benefit of two way radios is that they are very easy to use. Generally, they come with a ‘push to talk button’. In order to initiate a talk, you can simply press on that button and you will be through the line. Because of this user-friendly nature, the radios are particularly popular among kids. Those parents who cannot offer costly mobile phones to their children can give them the radios for staying connected.

Coverage area of two way radios depends upon the set itself. If you want higher coverage, you have to go for high power radios. This type of radios may be a little expensive. An average radio generally covers something between three to five miles. With plenty of online shops selling two way radios over the Internet, you do not need to go out of your home to buy a radio. You can do it from anywhere, only if you have access to the Internet.
