DISCLAIMER: I did not use any sort of unlocking software to obtain my unlock code, I simply called customer service and asked them. I do not recommend paying for an unlock code, nor downloading a program that could easily corrupt your computer and/or phone. Customer service will provide you with this code for FREE, as well as the means of entering it. DO NOT BE SCAMMED! Note: I use AT&T. For unlocking a T-Mobile phone, they tend to be easier to obtain codes from (from what I hear). The only downside is that you must be a T-Mobile customer for a minimum of 90 days, with a history of good-standing payment. They’ve got a few other little reqs, but those are the major ones. Simply give them a call and ask. If you get a refusal, don’t take no for an answer. They (AT&T) generally aren’t supposed to give out unlock codes right away, but EVERY REPRESENTATIVE IS DIFFERENT. You may have no troubles as I did, you may spend an hour on the phone. It all depends on who you talk to, how you ask, and your history as a customer. Just make sure, no matter what, that they know that YOU know they can and do give out those codes. Just be ready with your IMEI and ask them the process of unlocking the phone, if you don’t already know. Enjoy!

    @MrConsierge read through all the comments. Always just tell them you need to unlock your phone; they don’t need more information than that.

  11. kawapen2 says:

    @8R14N4 Nope, your fave 5 screen will be gone. Besides, T-Mobile no longer offers their fave 5s..

    does this work for lg shine touch?

  13. kawapen2 says:

    @therealshaneen If it’s a CU720, then yes. If no, then… obviously no.

  14. kawapen2 says:

    @dairi0007 You don’t have to have an AT&T account to call customer service and get an unlock code. I must be a “dumm ass” to continue answering people’s inane questions, since you are one of the many who apparently cannot READ THROUGH THE COMMENTS.

    @TheChampiYon Nope, GSM companies only.

    hi i have an lg shine i called custermer service they said i had to have a at&t sim to unlock but i didnt so i put my companys sim in it and it unlocked but the pic mail and internet dont work do you think its because i didnt use a at&t card at first to unlock??

  18. kawapen2 says:

    @julian1dude This is explained in the comments, as well. Picture mail and MediaNET don’t work because you’re not using AT&T services anymore. In order to get them fully functional again, you have to upload the proper service books for the carrier you’re going to use. It requires a data cable, a program you can find online, and google searching.

    what can you do if your phone is unlocked???

  21. ARMYSTRENGTHxbl says:

    what do i get when i unlock my phone

  22. kawapen2 says:

    @ARMYSTRENGTHxbl Read the comments.

    It’s not better for the phone, but it improves its resell value, and you can still use it if you decide to switch carriers. Or if you want the phone but have service with another GSM-based company.

    I have had the CU720 for over two years now and it still works great. The metal case takes a beating and still the phone works. I have the $15 Internet service on it and that works well. I was going to upgrade to a smartphone, but why pay the money?

  24. kawapen2 says:

    @jvolstad It’s a great phone, I can’t argue that :D
