The LG Fathom from Verizon has a very clean installation of Windows Mobile 6.5.3, meaning that there aren’t many added programs or user interface enhancements. This may be a good thing if you want a “light” experience. Of the software elements that are different, the most useful is the gesture pad on the unlock screen. You can use this area to draw the letter that corresponds to a program. The program will launch right from your lock screen, without you having to slide the unlocker. The Fathom doesn’t come with Opera Mobile 10 or Skyfire, so you’ll want to download one of those browsers. Once you do, browser performance is good, but not great. The Snapdragon processor does a decent job keeping up with multitasking and launching programs, but perhaps a shortage of RAM keeps the Fathom from really shining in terms of performance.

@Smallie7 I hope to find it soon on XDA (still not there). Really nice enhancement for the standard lockscreen.

There is a market for a phone like this. Not every one wants something flashy. And this device seems to work well in spite of being wm 6.5.
