Its slightly longer and wider, and it has four physical buttons along the bottom of the screen rather than touch-sensitive ones like those on the EVO. In hand, the phone feels really solid and we were surprised at how light it felt, though we could really do without the hump on the back. And yes, the large thing fits in a jean pocket, but not without slightly bulging. * Screen: Apparently the Droid X has a 4.3-inch, FWVGA 854 x 480-resolution screen, though we couldn’t confirm that on the device itself. Regardless, it was super crisp and the capacitive screen was mighty responsive to taps and multitouch gestures. Our one concern is the mirrored trim around the screen — it makes the whole face of the phone extra glossy. * Motorola Blur / Android: We confirmed that the Droid X was running Android 2.1 with some new sort of Motoblur (perhaps Ninjablur) skin. We didn’t get to configure Blur with our social networks and contacts, but it didn’t seem as “in your face” as the original. There’s also a new navigation bar along the bottom that lets you easily jump to different Android panes. We can’t really make a call on how …

It almost sounds too good to be true: using Skype without a PC, on the go. Belkin has answered the call by offering a Wi-Fi phone pre-loaded with Skype software. DigitalJournal TV gives you an overview of what’s hot and not about Belkin’s pet project. Digital Journal — Skype is known for giving you the ability to make cheap phone calls through your PC. And we all know the mobile benefits of the everyday cellphone. Combine the two and you get the Belkin Skype Wi-Fi Phone, a useful handset for anyone who often phones friends or relatives overseas. As the DigitalJournal TV team discovered, using this Skype-enabled phone will let you make international calls for pennies per minute. Similar in shape to the common candy-bar phone, the Wi-Fi Phone offers a nice grip to make calls, feeling a bit more rugged than other fancy cells. But its looks are secondary — this gadget is perfect for the road warrior calling internationally. Pre-loaded with Skype software, users connect wirelessly to a Wi-Fi hotspot (found in coffee shops, restaurants and some cities have city-wide coverage). It’s a simple process, considering how widespread Wi-Fi has become. You don’t need a PC or a Web browser. The phone costs 9 USD (order from the US or Canada) and a monthly subscriber fee of about gives you unlimited calling. Impressive voice quality, quick connections and an intuitive interface makes the Belkin phone a worthy contender in the bustling market of “world phones.” Is this phone right …
a review of the LG Ally which is a new phone from LG LG might be a bit late to the game, but its new Android 2.1 powered Ally for Verizon is a nice piece of kit. It features a good touchscreen display, a very nice keyboard, and some genuinely nice LG developed widgets and UI tweaks. With speed like that of Motorola’s DROID, the Ally is looking pretty good
