New technologies such as computers, MP3 players, digital cameras popping up in the high tech electronics market every month with huge price tags. History has shown that once demand grew, and the technology required to create these items will become more commonplace, and hence prices will drop. With direct TV, the prices for satellite TV have started at an affordable rate which has made an instant impact on cable companies.

When comparing one item against another, it’s usual to compare similar items – in this case it’s all about television. But that’s really where the comparison can end. Yes, they both offer television programs. But the cable companies are offering a lesser service for a higher price than offered by the direct TV companies. In some cases, it was at least twice as much!

Direct TV has managed to launch itself on the market with a product which attracts attention because of its quality and versatility. And this high tech satellite technology is offered with very seductive low rates, which appeals to the masses. This will hurt the cable companies who are going to find themselves priced out of the market.

There is very little to actually compare when it comes to the prices offered by the likes of say DirecTV or DISH next to those of cable TV for example. Both of the direct TV companies offer multiple features together with state of the art satellite technology. Their monthly subscription cost amounts to a couple of visits to a certain well-known coffee shop! Now compare this with the price of cable which is more than twice the price and cable is offering less than half the programs and none of the satellite features.

And Direct TV companies just made it easier for everyone, a no brainer by offering free installation and free equipment. You just need to call up. If it’s possible to install to run the equipment in your area, then you just make an appointment for someone to come install your new satellite TV system.

Compare that with cable. Well, you will have to pay for both the equipment and the installation unless you were able to find a company offering a special at the time you needed it.

This means that the Direct TV companies attract existing cable customers easily to move over to a more technologically advanced system without incurring any cost with the new system. AND they also attract those who are moving into their first homes. These new subscribers to the television marketplace will obviously choose the free cheaper to run system, over the more expensive basic one!

Direct TV is proving that it’s possible to do more, with less, and not have to charge the earth to do it. With over two million subscribers between DirecTV and DISH during 2005, it would appear that added value for money is now the way to go. And truth is that they really have made it such a simple decision for the consumers to make.

Direct TV (Directv) is digital quality television. It functions when the programming is up-linked to a satellite & is then sent directly to our dish. The quality of the picture and sound received through Direct TV is much better than what is given by cable operators. Direct TV is nations first high power direct broadcast service which began in 1994. It is the fastest selling electronic product ever.

It has a huge & stable company which has more than 13 million subscribers. The equipment mainly consists of three items. One is a dish which is nearly 18 inches, second item is an integrated receiver decoder and third one is remote control. Direct TV uses 4 high powers satellites built by Hughes Ele and one by Loral. On Aug.10, 2000 the Direct TV announced it’s renaming. The satellites of Direct TV are in an orbit 22300 miles above the equator. These satellite are arranged in such a way that each one provide 8 or more transponders at 240watt each and the best convenience is that no adjustment of dish is required to change the programming. Thus Direct TV is one of the best choices which Americans go in for satellite TV.

J.D. Power & Associates say that Direct TV is superb. The consumers have also rated satellite TV better than cable companies in America. The transmission through Direct TV is incomparable to the one given by the cable TV. There is a vast difference in costing also. As there is limited transmission of channels due to limited line set up, Direct TV has a vast selling of transmission due to being a part of satellite TV. Direct TV is one of the best sources we can rely for our entertainment. Direct TV offers us available local channels in all the packages provided to viewers. We can select a choice of packages according to need of our family. The Direct TV offers great HDTV line ups.

One more very important thing which Direct TV provides us is digital video recording. It is going to change our way of watching TV. We can watch television in our own schedule without any commercials. We got nearly 225 channels of quality and even access to twenty five sports channel and 30 premium channels. We have a choice of 50 pay-per-views for everyday. If we compare to cable TV, Direct TV has gone beyond and above any service.

Direct TV has very easy installing equipments. The satellite dish can be mounted outside any house, office, apartments, hospital etc. The dish net work is a major and direct competitor of Direct TV. Dish network was launched in US in 1996.It is also a direct broadcast satellite service that broadcasts digital satellite TV and audio to viewers.

Direct TV and DNTV are providing a quality service of transmission to US viewers. To take the advantage of services we have to just take the choice of package. If we move from the place we can carry the dish with us anywhere in US. We even have a facility to resell the dish if we wish to. Ultimately all the parents are also happy because now their children would watch only those channels which parents wish for.

When we speak of transmission of pure digital television, we mainly talk about its reception and display of the signals. These signals come to us through the broadcasting over air or by transmission through the satellite system or cable system in our houses. There is a class of Direct TV that is getting a lot of name at present which is called DirecTV HDTV. When we combine a digital TV of high resolution with a Dolby surround sound (AC-3), we get a DirecTV HDTV. To have a stunning image, this combination has been made.

A new production and transmission equipment at the DirecTV HDTV station and even a new equipment for reception for DirecTV HDTV is required by the consumer. The strongest selling point for DirecTV HDTV is the higher resolution picture. After media’s perfect show up about DirecTV HDTV, the DirecTV HDTV has reached to all the electronic stores. The higher resolution which produces crystal clarity, as never seen before through picture tube, gives us a life like picture and digital sound. A usual TV gives us an effective picture resolution of about 210,000 pixels whereas in the highest resolution DirecTV HDTV format, each picture contains 2 million pixels. This nearly gives us ten times more detailed picture. The basic aim behind DirecTV HDTV is not to increase the definition per unit area but it is rather that the visual field percentage contained by the image should be increased. The proposal about all DirecTV HDTV was first submitted by General Instrument Corporation on May 31, 1990

By December 1990 ATRC also launched the same followed by Zenith and AT&T and the MIT. At present Japan is the only country which broadcasts DirecTV HDTV services to the viewers. The number of converters and receivers sold to the customers has reached to 100,000 and 30,000 respectively. The possibility of starting a digital satellite HDTV service in Japan has been eliminated by the establishment of the analog broadcast service, DirecTV HDTV. Right now, many stations do not broadcast HDTV program.

Slowly, the current analog TV can be either replaced or a new set-top box can be purchased for converting the digital signal. While purchasing any TV receivers we should first ensure that the new receiver has all the input jacks that match the connectors on the VCR, cable boxed DVD player etc.

We should always go in for a composite, S-video and component video as a minimum set of analog jacks so we can use our existing analog equipment with a new set.

Launched in 1994 by General Motors, Direct TV is the largest satellite TV provider in the world, with 14.5 million subscribers and 15 satellites.

Direct TV is ranked #2 in customer satisfaction among satellite TV and cable companies by J.D. Power and Associates.

Getting the best deal on satellite TV service can be confusing.

There are only two satellite TV providers in the USA — DISH Network and DIRECTV — but each one has numerous independent dealers who offer a variety of different deals on satellite TV systems and service.

So how do you know which satellite TV provider has the best satellite TV deal? And how do you tell which of their dealers can offer you a great deal plus great service?

I’ve spent the last three weeks researching the Internet to find out which satellite TV provider has the best service, and which dealers are the most reputable and offer the best deals.

Here’s what I found …

This is a question that many homeowners find themselves in. With cable television costing so much these days, people are looking for a better solution. Is Direct TV that solution? While there can be a case made for both sides, the Direct TV options can be numerous. When you analyze this question, you will want to talk about price but you’ll also want to consider ease of use, availability of programming, and high quality technology. So, who wins the battle of Direct TV versus cable?

Cable

On one side you have cable. This is the standard choice for many because it is what they know. Cable was around for a long time in mainstream television and therefore you go with what you know. Cable now offers many more channels than it once did. You can get high definition systems as well as such products that can record shows for you. Cable programming is versatile, taking in many of the various needs the consumers have. But, the price of cable is something that throws many off. To get the good stuff, you’ll have to pay for it.

Direct TV

On the other side, you have Direct TV. While the equipment to use Direct TV may be more expensive, it is often offered at discounted price or even offered for free when you subscribe to the right options. Direct TV offers a lower price then. And, it does offer more channels as well. Does that mean that they are going to be ones that interest you? We still think you’ll find that with 135 channels, there is still “nothing good on” at times. You also can get into digital options as well as high definition quality.

The Bottom Line

The bottom line comes down to the fact that you can get more from Direct TV than you can from standard cable and it will likely cost you less. Is it the right option for you? Check out the pricing plans that are available to make that final decision on Direct TV.
